The Beach Stone-curlew, is an endangered species and one of Australia’s resident shorebirds, usually inhabiting sandy beaches that are lined with mangroves, resting in the shade during the heat of the day. They mainly eat crabs and other marine invertebrates.
We only have 9 breeding pairs in NSW left! They only lay one egg a year and foxes are a real threat, as are dogs, cats and habitat disturbance.
